Anne’s chest tightened at James’ words. How many did she know personally? How many would she no longer see in Nassau. The redhead understood James’ anger towards Edward perfectly. While she knew that he never really meant to do harm to others, his money-driven ways ended up doing just that. Anne’s grip on the rail tightened.

The explosions brought her out of her thoughts, her head whipping around towards the back of the ship where everything was kicking off. It wasn’t until they left the cover of the mist that Anne realized they had much bigger problems. They escaped the explosions unharmed, but now they were exposed to the Navy. Anne’s eyes widened.

Their little voyage had certainly taken a drastic turn.

   They swayed in the dead center of three vessels, grand and intimidating as their masts curved to the skies. Words were lodged in their throats, paralysis consumed, watching in dawning horror as each of them slowly turned. One by one; they directed their naval ram toward them-arched and lethal they were, glinting under the light of the moon.

James poised himself, roared for his men. Their hearts lurched and they scrambled, uttering no response, doing with they were told. Their words were useless here, their fears were to be left forgotten, scatter them into the winds. Unfurling the sails, they snapped wide and the pirate accelerated. “Anne! In me cabin now!
